The title refers to a legend from Persian mythology: the sang-e sabur , a magical black stone that absorbs the secrets, grief, and burdens of those who confide in it. According to the myth, the stone eventually becomes so heavy with these shared sorrows that it explodes, finally liberating the speaker. As the woman realizes her husband can neither hear nor judge her, he becomes her living "patience stone."
