Obtain the firmware file (usually a .dav or .bin file) from the official manufacturer’s portal.

Enter the DVR's IP address into Internet Explorer or a compatible browser.
Place the file in the root directory of your USB drive (don't put it in a folder).
Use a Surge Protector or UPS. If the power cuts during the flash process, the DVR may become unusable.
